At Grant Thornton we are committed to being helpful citizens engaged in our community.
We have selected to support the Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund and the local food banks. Each year we assist with the annual campaigns by collecting cash and food donations and volunteering our time.
About the Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund
The Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund provides food hampers for families in need in the week leading up to Christmas. Their campaign is all about children in need. The organization tries to provide a week's worth of groceries enabling families to have a little bit of extra money so they can go out and buy their children a little something for Christmas. Far too many children go without during Christmas.
MO for Movember
We have selected to support the Movember campaign to help raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.
About the Movember Campaign
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in Canada and around the world. With their "Mo's", these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.
November 1st marks the beginning of "Movember", the annual moustache-growing campaign. Since its humble beginnings in Sydney, Australia, Movember has grown to become a global movement, working to increase early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment of prostate cancer.
Last year, members of the Grant Thornton team "Magnum GT", embraced the opportunity to make a difference. Here in Canada we raised over $84,700, putting us in 11th place overall on the Canadian team leader board. This is an amazing accomplishment, and this year we hope to do even better.
